河南省の真イエス教会の信者が、教会の転用を拒否したところ、約1,000人の政府関係者が訪れ、教会を取り壊した。教会の8人の責任者と13人の信者は宗教事務局の局長を「違法に引き留めた」として逮捕された。3人の信者は拘留を逃れるため、この地域から姿を消した。
メリッサ・イノウエ（Melissa Inouye）氏は、1917年に設立され、1950年代に激しい弾圧に晒されたペンテコステ派の教会が歩んだ道のりを記した学術書を出版している。三自教会への加入を受け入れたこの教会は、現在、再び危機に瀕している。
河南省の当局は計画的に何度も卑劣な手段を講じた挙句、楊寨の真イエス教会の信者に教会の取り壊しを命じる文書に署名させた。
中国政府は、河南省の政府公認教会2棟から教会の看板を撤去するために、警察官70名を派遣しました。
